We provide wrap-around childcare across Derby and Derbyshire, including breakfast clubs, after-school clubs, holiday clubs and inset day care for children aged 3–13 years. Our settings are busy, fun and rewarding places to work, where no two days are ever the same.

Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from people who are:

- Positive and willing to get involved in activities
- Sports coaches with a passion for active play and physical development
- Playworkers, childcare/ teaching assistants and teachers
- Drivers for our 8-seater club vehicles (must hold a full UK driving licence, be aged 21 or over, and have a clean driving record)
Previous experience in childcare, education, sports coaching or youth work is helpful but not always essential, as full training may be provided for the right candidates.

Minimum Requirements
The minimum requirements to begin the recruitment process at Schools Out Club Derby Ltd are as follows:
- Applicants must be able to work safely and appropriately within a childcare environment
- Applicants must be willing to complete all required safeguarding and recruitment checks prior to starting employment
- An enhanced DBS check covering the children’s workforce is required (this is a legal requirement from the age of 16 years and over when working in a childcare setting)
- Applicants must provide valid photo identification (such as a passport or driving licence) to verify identity and support DBS and safeguarding checks
- If an applicant already holds an enhanced DBS certificate, it must:
- Cover the children’s workforce
- Be registered with the DBS Update Service or be dated under 3 month old.
- Applicants with a current DBS that meet the criteria above must also provide referee details for the employer or establishment that sourced your enhanced DBS.
Applicants must also provide two suitable referees as part of our safer recruitment process.
References
One referee should ideally be from the applicant’s most recent employment, education, training, volunteering or childcare-related experience.
We understand that not all applicants will have previous experience working with children.
In these cases, referees may still be provided from professional or formal settings such as:
- Employers or managers
- Teachers, tutors or training providers
- Work experience supervisors
- Volunteer coordinators
- Sports coaches or leaders of structured activities (e.g. football, dance, netball)
Where applicants do not have direct childcare experience, referees will be asked to provide information on the applicant’s character, reliability, attitude and general suitability to work with children, based on their knowledge of the individual.
We do not accept personal references from family members, friends or partners.
